One Day In May Lands Tramore Finale One Day In May toughed it out to win the TramoreRaces.ie (Ladies Pro/Am) Flat Race for trainer Robert Tyner and jockey Anna McGuinness. A ferocious gallop was set on the front end, but McGuinness looked to always be in control and, even with her mount running green in the final stages, she was still able to run out a convincing winner at 2/1 by a length. Speaking after the race, McGuinness said: “It was a messy enough race but the plan going out was to keep it simple and ride it as the race panned out. “In fairness to Robert and his team, he had this mare spot on for today. “I knew she was going to stay, with the point-to-point runs. She was placed in the bumper the last day in Wexford and I felt she had a great chance in this. “I just wanted to keep it simple and hope she was good enough, which she was. “I think she had plenty in hand. She was lugging to the left and I just kept her going hands and heels and kept her straight to the line. “If something was going to come to me I knew she’d pick up. It’s brilliant and great to get the result.” The victory rounded off the card at Tramore in fine style, with One Day In May showing a willing attitude to overcome her inexperience and score convincingly for her connections.
