One Fine Morning in Galway

The money may have arrived for the J P McManus-owned Easily Pleased (9/4 into 11/8) in the Corrib Oil Sean Cleary Memorial Maiden Hurdle but it was One Fine Morning also in the famous green and gold that prevailed, the chestnut partnered to victory by David Casey.

One Fine Morning, fourth in a decent contest at Sligo last time, made all here and he stayed on well up the run-in to see off the promising ex-pointer, Pocket Reader by a length and a quarter. The newcomer Lockdown ran well to be third whilst the aforementioned Easily Pleased couldn't raise his effort from before the straight and ended up finishing fourth.

Winning trainer Ronnie O'Leary said: "He enjoyed himself in front but he might prefer a bit of company. He jumped great but got a bit lonely towards the finish. Happy days anyway and he'll jump a fence in time and he should make a nice chaser."
