One top start to The New season in Cotswolds Cheltenham's first race of the new season looked to have been won by a very smart sort in The New One. Nigel Twiston-Davies' even-money favourite landed the big bumper at Aintree and did little wrong either on his jumping debut at Newton Abbot or in the Neptune Investment Management Novices' Hurdle. Always travelling well under the trainer's son, Sam, he eventually came two and three-quarter lengths clear of Village Vic. "He's very exciting - as exciting as you get," said Nigel Twiston-Davies. "He'll probably come back here next month and two and a half miles is his trip for the time being. He'll get three in time."
