Options open for Maths Prize Richard O’Brien is keeping his options open on Maths Prize who was a wide-margin winner at the Curragh on Sunday. His four-year-old gelding relished the mile-and-a-quarter trip posed in the Troytown Grey Abbey Equine Hospital Handicap and powered home by six lengths off a mark of 88. The valuable Nasrullah Handicap, over the same trip, was mentioned by the trainer after the Curragh success and is open to horses rated up to 105. The handicapper did not miss Maths Prize, though, as he has gone up 13lb to a mark of 101. O’Brien said: “I’ve been speaking to the owners and we are keeping an open mind on the Nasrullah Handicap (at Leopardstown). “He could go there if it is a reasonably-sized field — I wouldn’t want him drawn 16 of 19 there. “He could go the Listed route — the dream is he could find more from a mark of 101. “He is a stonewall hurdler, he has all the athleticism and is proven on heavy ground so he has plenty of options.”
