PRIDE TO TAKE CHANCE IN HENNESSY

Dorans Pride is set to take his place in Sunday`s Hennessy Cognac Gold Cup at Leopardstown after all, it was revealed today.

The 12-year-old, second to Rince Ri in the Ericsson Chase last time, had looked likely to make his next appearance in tomorrow`s Esat Digifone Kinloch Brae Chase at Thurles.

However, Michael Hourigan`s charge was not among this morning`s declarations for Thurles and heads for the Leopardstown contest - a race he won in 1998 and was runner-up in to Florida Pearl last year.

Hourigan said today: 'I`ve talked it over with the owners and he runs on Sunday at Leopardstown.

'He`s never run a bad race at Leopardstown in his life. He`s won this race and finished second and he`s beat most of the other runners at one stage.

'They should be as afraid of him as he is of them.

'He`d prefer better ground - he doesn`t really jump so well off the soft ground - but he`s got the gears between fences.'
