Paddy Mullins documentary on Setanta A new documentary about legendary trainer Paddy Mullins is set to be shown on Setanta this Christmas. 'Paddy Mullins -The Great Stayer', a one-hour documentary, will premier on Setanta Ireland on Christmas night at 9pm. It is described as a fascinating and revealing profile of the late legendary champion trainer Paddy Mullins who was "one of our greatest sporting ambassadors". The story is contextualised with archive footage and print archive of relevant historical events and changing times throughout the 20th and early 21st century. It reveals how this innovative self-made man planned big, dreamt big and progressed from schooling point-to-point horses to becoming ten-times Champion National Hunt Trainer in Ireland when his path to success wasn't always straightforward. The documentary rich in rare archive footage and photos features the highlights of his career in Ireland and his unrivalled successes in England, France and the USA, including making racing history with the iconic mare Dawn Run in the eighties, lifting the entire Irish nation. Almost three decades on, Jonjo O'Neill and former CEO of Cheltenham, Edward Gillespie re-visit the track to reminisce about that unforgettable day in 1986. 'Paddy Mullins - The Great Stayer' also shows how Paddy's astounding achievements has filtered down to an incredible dynasty he left behind, who now carry on his legacy. For those that do not have a Setanta subsctiption, the documentary will be available free to air on Sky digital channel 423 and UPC channel 401.
