Pakens Rock showed his younger rivals how it's done, as he registered a tenth career success in the KilbegganRaces.com Handicap Hurdle.

Second over fences on his penultimate start at Limerick, the 12-year-old came in for good late support this evening, going off a 9/1 chance from 16s.

On just his third outing for Darren Collins, the admirable chestnut was settled in mid-division by Philip Donovan and sat in fifth with a circuit to race.

Taking closer order in third from two out, the Raymond Healy-owned victor soon went second and was pushed along to lead before the last, keeping on well when ridden on the run-in.

Trained by Brian McMahon, the never nearer Paul Collins (15/2) was a length-and-a-half back in second, while The Niffler (18/1) was another length-and-three-quarters away in third.

Returned the 9/2 favourite (from 12s early), Flidais finished eighth under John Shinnick.

"We were thinking he'd be in the frame. He's a 12-year-old but still has plenty of enthusiasm and is the same at home as well," Collins reflected.

"He'll probably go back chasing. He likes it here, I think that’s his third win at the track, and I'd say he'll come back here during the year."
