Palmer looking forward to St James's Palace Hugo Palmer is excited by the prospect of Galileo Gold taking on the two other 2000 Guineas winners in the St James's Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot. While the Newmarket trainer respects The Gurkha, winner of the French 2000 Guineas for Aidan O'Brien, and Kevin Prendergast's Awtaad, who defeated the unlucky-in-running Galileo Gold in the Irish version at the Curragh, Palmer believes his horse is the one to beat. "He's a very good Group One winner and racing is going to be the winner when three Guineas winners turn up in the St James's Palace. It's a very exciting prospect for a racing fan," Palmer told At The Races. "I think I would possibly fear The Gurkha more than Awtaad as he produced his Guineas win on quicker ground. "He beat First Selection who ran very well in the English Guineas but finished further behind Galileo Gold than he did behind The Gurkha in Deauville. "Maybe he had improved for a run under his belt, but on a strict line of form through First Selection, we are not going to run away from The Gurkha."
