Pass The Buck routed the opposition in the optional claimer over 10 furlongs that got Fairyhouse's card under way.

The well-supported 11/8 favourite was close up to the pace with Music And Song and Marie Crisium before Joey Sheridan settled him just behind in third.

Sheridan was clearly sitting on plenty of horse as his mount galloped into the lead two furlongs down and drew clear at the furlong marker. He stretched right away to win as he pleased by six lengths in the first-time visor on this drop in class. Borora Aura finished second at 15/2 and was just under two lengths in front of Arizona Star at 33/1.

The winner made the breakthrough at the seventh time of asking.

Joseph O'Brien said: "He won well. He had a couple of good runs and obviously dropped in class today. I’m delighted.

“I suppose he’ll go into a handicap now.

"The second was rated fairly low, so he shouldn’t get much for that.”
