Penzance Set For Flat Outing

Penzance is set to revert to the Flat next weekend after making a successful chasing debut last month.

The 2005 Triumph Hurdle winner could reappear in the Coutts Handicap over a mile and three-quarters at Sandown on Saturday.

After wins on the Flat and over the hurdles the five-year-old, owned by the Elite Racing Club, opened his account over fences at Hereford.

'He's fine and he might have a run on the Flat at Sandown next Saturday. I'm going to work him first during the week,' trainer Alan King told Racing UK.

'He got too heavy last summer when we gave him a long break. He will have a summer holiday, maybe two to three weeks maximum. Last year we gave him two months off and it took me until Christmas to get him fit.

'I was very pleased with the Hereford run. He jumped beautifully, he wasn't doing much in front but there's a lot to look forward to with him.'
