The Gowran Park Median Auction (Fillies) Maiden was won by the odds-on favourite Perfect Portrait in the hands of Dylan Browne McMonagle.

Drawn wide, the Donegal rider kept straight for the first couple of furlongs before gradually easing his mount across towards the rail. Second from the end of the back straight, the daughter of Zoffany led two furlongs out and kept on well to beat Letiza by a length.

Brendan Powell, assistant to winning trainer Joseph O'Brien, said: “She deserved to win that, she was fourth in a Group 3 at the Curragh last year so she had the form.

“Dylan said she has improved a lot from her first run (third over course and distance). He said a bit more cut in the ground would suit her and going up to a mile-and-a-half.

“She's a smart filly and she's going to get her black-type no problem. Onwards and upwards from here.”
