Perry Mason in line for further Curragh gains A four-time winner since joining the stable last season, Perry Mason could bid to give rookie trainer Maurice Ahern further success at the Curragh next weekend. Bought for just €3000, the gelding has proven a revelation since joining the Curragh based Cork man having failed to place in five previous starts. Versatile with trip, the son of Advertise has won over seven-furlongs, a mile and one-and--a-half miles to date. Speaking at Down Royal, after sending out Counting Coup to impressively land his maiden, Ahern said: "The Sunday, Derby Day (Curragh), Perry Mason going for the 0-100 mile to sharpen him up for Galway. "He's fond of the Curragh, he has won there three times. Looking forward to it. Leigh Roche will ride him, he's Leigh's ride now. "There's not a bother on him since the last day. Things just didn't fall his way, probably (trip) did stretch him that little notch, but came out of it well. "He's been unbelievable and has kind of made the yard. We could do with another one!"
