Alan Persse rode his first winner in over two years as he partnered Key Witness (10/1) to land the Final Furlong Podcast With 1xBet.ie Handicap at the Curragh.

A winner at Chelmsford's all-weather track for Archie Watson, the Acclamation gelding had been runner-up over six furlongs at this course on his first start for Pat Flynn.

Here, the three-year-old raced behind the leaders and improved to hit the front a furlong out before keeping on well to hold the staying-on Miss Nifty by half a length.

Trainer Pat Flynn said of his wife Catherine's winner: “He walked by me at the Newmarket sales, and I said to Catherine ‘there’s a racehorse’, and bought him for 15 grand.

“He’s only three and is a Saturday horse now. I’ll probably put him away now for the winter.

“Seven is his trip. The last day he was just caught out for a bit of speed over six.”
