Doctor Phoenix has been given a clean bill of health after his fall at Fairyhouse on Monday.

The 10-year-old, much improved for Gordon Elliott this season, was upsides Un De Sceaux when coming down at the second-last fence in the Devenish Chase.

He now has the Punchestown Champion Chase on his agenda, providing all is well in the meantime.

"He's all good, I had a text off Gordon saying all was fine, thank goodness. It was a bit of a cruncher," said Will Smith, who manages the National Hunt horses for owners the Nick Bradley Racing Syndicate.

"Whether he'd have won, who knows, but I think it was going to be yet another career-best whatever happened.

"Gordon has done an amazing job with him. Apart from the blip at Fairyhouse in December, he has improved with every race.

"He was going into the unknown a bit stamina-wise, but Davy (Russell) said he just met the fence too long rather than it being a tired fall.

"We'll head to Punchestown, all being well. Gordon and his team have three weeks now to freshen him up.

"He's clearly still on the upgrade and although he's 10, he doesn't have that many miles on the clock so with a summer on his back, we can look forward to next year."
