Pierce has high hopes for Laurina's sister Buoyed by the success of the unbeaten Alsa Mix, a graduate of his County Wexford nursery, Paul Pierce is looking forward to launching the career of a sister to Laurina in 2019. The daughter of Spanish Moon was already named Immortality when Pierce purchased her in the summer of 2017 at the Tattersalls Ireland Derby Sale. Since then Willie Mullins’ Laurina has of course shown star quality with four successes, including in the Trull House Stud Mares’ Novices' Hurdle at Cheltenham and at Grade One level at Fairyhouse. She is now viewed as a Champion Hurdle contender. "We have a full-sister to Laurina ready to run in the new year. She's four at the moment and we’re giving her time," said Pierce. "She’d be bigger again than Alsa Mix — she’s huge. "She’s seemingly a lot like Laurina — big, and rangy looking as well. "We’ve given her time. We brought her along gently last year, but she’ll be ready to run in the new year and we think a lot of her. "If she’s half as good as Laurina we’ll be on the pig’s back, but we do like this one. She has a great temperament — she’s super that way."
