Pietropaolo excels with front running ride on Sand Art Apprentice jockey Julian Pietropaolo was seen to good effect when making virtually all on the Kevin Coleman trained Sand Art to win the Baader - Eddie Carr PBR 2000 Handicap at Roscommon. Wearing first-time blinkers, the son of U S Navy Flag broke smartly from his inside stall and soon bagged the rail under his young Cork born rider. Setting perfect fractions in front, Pietropaolo kicked entering the straight and found a willing partner as he held on well aboard the 10/1 chance to beat the closing Apothic Red by half-a-length. Julian Pietropaolo said: "We knew he had plenty of ability and the blinkers definitely sharpened him. "I was able to get him back and relaxed. He travelled well into it and, when they came to him in the straight, he put down his head and battled on well."
