Stephen Thorne's Pink Oxalis was much too good for the opposition in the valuable fillies' handicap over a mile in Gowran Park.

She was backed from 11/2 to 7/2 joint favourite and the support proved well founded.

She was held up by Jack Kearney and made headway approaching the final couple of furlongs. She stayed on well between horses to lead racing to the final furlong and swept home by four lengths. Declaree 7/2 joint favourite, took the runner-up berth in front of Elegant Madame (6/1).

Kearney said:- “That was very impressive. I wasn’t too sure coming here today on the ground.

“She won well over a mile the last day in Dundalk and she’s been bouncing at home ever since.

“She’s turned a corner and gotten stronger. She won very impressively today and handled the ground.

“(Winning) definitely brought her on a ton at home and her work had been very good leading up to this but I wasn’t expecting that.

“She enjoyed the soft ground and I’m sure Stephen already has a race picked out for her.”
