Pinot Gris gains Listowel success The Henry de Bromhead-trained Pinot Gris was a convincing five-and-a-half-length winner of the Charlie Chute Memorial Handicap Chase for rider Darragh O'Keefe. The six-year-old son of Mastercraftsman jumped well throughout, travelling on the front end. When O'Keefe asked for an effort, he picked up strongly to secure victory. Speaking after the race, he said: “It has been a frustrating week for us although the horses have been running well. Basil's (Holian, owner) horse Downmexicoway ran well in the Kerry National and I'm delighted for him to get this big winner. “He had a great run in Galway over hurdles and was back over fences at Kilbeggan the last day, where he ran well over a short trip. He stepped back up today and travelled and jumped super all the way. “That was a great pot to win and we'll keep an eye on what the ground does now, as he needs that good ground.
