Place 14s for the Triumph

Smad Place is 14-1 with Sky Bet for the Triumph Hurdle after winning the opening Q Associates Juvenile Hurdle at Newbury.

The contest was thought to be an opportunity for 1-4 favourite Dolatulo to underline his own Cheltenham credentials.

He set out to make all the running under Tony McCoy but the eventual winner was already alongside when the market leader ploughed through the second last.

From then on it was only a matter of how far Alan King's charge would win by and he eventually crossed the line 27 lengths clear of his toiling rival.

"He's very laid back at home and it's just stamina that's won the day. He's grown a lot since we bought him, he's shot up, and I'm very pleased with him," the winning trainer told Racing UK.

"Wayne (Hutchinson) said the further he went the better, they went a good gallop and his stamina kicked in. He'd be more in the Franchoek mould than the Mille Chief or Katchit, he wouldn't have their speed, but that was a good performance.

"I'd imagine the Finale at Chepstow would be next for him providing he comes out of this ok."
