The Pat Flynn trained front-runner Chois The Idea made it third time lucky when blazing his way to victory in the five furlongs Blackberry EBF Maiden at Down Royal today.

Ridden by Danny Grant, the gelded son of Choisir again showed plenty of early speed and maintained the strong gallop to the line, running out the cosy winner, over runner-up September Lily

Flynn was not present but owner Pat McGinn, from Dundalk but based in Dublin, said “that's my first winner in over nine years! I used to have a good horse called Right Job who won eight races and I've two horses in training now.

“He is a lovely horse and we took a chance that the five furlongs might suit him. Being by Choisir, the ground was suitable for him and he has a good attitude - coming up here from Waterford wasn't a bother on him.”
