Samrogue was played late and widest of all by Conor Hoban to cut down Collective Power in the opening five-furlong handicap at Dundalk.

Collective Power, the 2/1 favourite, had collared front-running King's View inside the final furlong but he was nailed by Samrogue in the last strides.

The 4/1 shot got up by a neck from the favourite. Tai Sing Yeh (17/2 from 11/1) was a length back in third.

Trainer Ross O'Sullivan said: "It is Conor's only ride on the night and he said the winners have been coming from the outside really in a pattern all year. As much as (stall) 10 is not ideal for five furlongs, it probably isn't a bad thing.

"Conor has been riding her all along. We forced her along a little bit early on over a couple of races and he said she doesn't have to be forced along. He followed and switched out and it worked perfectly today and he gave her a great ride.

"He said she'll have no problem going on the grass as well. She hasn't had a hard winter really. When she last ran in January, we said we would wait for this pot. It is the final (day of the winter series) and the prize money is very good."
