Plenty of Irish interest in UK today Irish trained horses are set to contest races at all four meeting in Britain today. Russian War is of particular interest in the first race at Ludlow at 1pm. Gordon Elliot sends the six-year-old to the Shropshire course for a Maiden Hurdle having pulled up in a similar event at Perth two months ago suffering from a heart irregularity. On his previous start at Downpatrick he gave his supporters 'heartache' when cocking his jaw and running out at the penultimate flight when still in with every chance of winning. Another horse worth watching at Ludlow is Kilgobbin Castle, trained by Mags Mullins, which runs in a 2m5f conditions hurdle. The well-bred son of Bob's Return is owned by Barry Connell and ran much better than his finishing position would suggest on his debut at Navan. The extra trip is likely to suit and while he will lack nothing from the saddle with Barry Geraghty aboard this may be too hot a race for him at this stage.
