Police Gazette dominated off the front in the Border Boutique Hire Maiden over an extended 10-furlongs.

Blinkers and a tongue-strap were deployed on his third start, and a new trip was also tried.

He soon led for Gavin Ryan and powered home in the straight. He held a nice cushion at the furlong pole and swept home by two and three-quarter lengths at 5/1 for Donnacha O'Brien. Reynir the 1/2 favourite, could make no impression in second.

Ryan said: "His first run (9th, Dundalk) was his worst run. His next run (3rd, Dundalk) he improved and he stepped forward again here today.

"He's a big, raw type and he's still only learning. Headgear was moreso just to wake him up, moreso than anything, and just to speed up the sharpness process.

"Very good, bounced out and saw out the trip well.

"He's a high cruiser and he finds going those good, even tempos very easy - probably suits him best. Dundalk is a flat track, so he is well able to get about."
