Positive signs for St Nic St Nicholas Abbey continues to please the team overseeing his recovery from a fractured pastern and a bout of colic. The six-times Group One winner fractured a leg on the gallops at Aidan O'Brien's Ballydoyle stables last month when working in preparation for the King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Stakes. Just two days after he underwent a major leg operation at Fethard Equine Hospital, the six-year-old had to have emergency surgery to be treated for colic. Recent reports have been upbeat, and owners Coolmore tweeted a latest bulletin which read: "Consulting USA surgeons Dr Richardson & Dr Slovis have both reassessed St Nicholas Abbey during the week and are happy with his progress. "Surgeons Dr Tom O'Brien and Dr Ger Kelly were happy with the wound and alignment of joints which are as good as can be expected at this time. "St Nicholas Abbey remains in good form at Fethard Equine Hospital and recently had his fibreglass cast replaced."
