Power Placed In Italy

Mick Channon's Royal Power finished a creditable second in the Premio Parioli (Italian 2000 Guineas) in Rome behind local runner Rattle And Hum.

Ridden by Ted Durcan, the son of Xaar, runner-up to Asset in the Easter Stakes at Kempton last month, went down by two lengths, with Adorabile Fong another two lengths further back in third.

Durcan said: 'I had a perfect race. Royal Power ran really well. I'm very happy with him but the winner was just too strong.'

Rattle and Hum will now be pointed towards the Derby Italiano as his trainer Luigi Camici believes that he will be even better over a mile and a half.
