Power stalls in Flemington spin Slade Power gave connections a brief scare when sitting down in the stalls ahead of a solo gallop at Flemington on Tuesday morning. The Diamond Jubilee Stakes and July Cup winner, trained by Eddie Lynam, showed there was no harm done when he consented to complete the work-out as the five-year-old prepares to take on the top Australian speedsters in the VRC Sprint Classic at the Melbourne course on November 8. Lynam told TVN: "He's not ground dependent, the only problem is the gates." He added: "He's been very good, we've had no problems in Europe with him, maybe it's because he hadn't been in the stalls for a while. "From what I could see, the hood went off and then they put it back on him. It was a bit of a wake-up call as well. "We're under no illusion we're up against the best in the world but nothing ventured, nothing gained. "There is the prize-money but there's more to it than that."
