Gowran Park will have to pass a precautionary inspection at 8am tomorrow morning ahead of an eight-race card featuring the Grade 2 Red Mills Chase.

Low temperatures are the chief concern for the County Kilkenny venue and Clerk of the Course Paddy Graffin gave an update this afternoon saying, “We’ve had just 3mm of rain since declarations yesterday morning.

“We had a bright and breezy day yesterday and through the night. It’s bright and breezy here again today. The going remains heavy on both tracks.

“The forecast is for a cold and frosty night, so we will have a precautionary inspection in the morning. Temperatures are set to rise through the morning, and we are hopeful that racing will go ahead.”

The eight-race card, which includes the Grade 3 Surehaul Mercedes-Benz Novice Hurdle switched from yesterday’s cancelled meeting at Clonmel, gets underway at 12.45pm.

Meanwhile, Fairyhouse is currently waterlogged ahead of a rescheduled meeting on Monday.

The course has been hit with 41mm of rain in the last 24 hours and the situation is being monitored.
