Prep run soon for Simenon Owner Nick Peacock is keen to see how Simenon performs on his seasonal reappearance before committing him to a fourth Gold Cup tilt at Royal Ascot. The Willie Mullins-trained nine-year-old won twice at the summer showpiece meeting in 2012 and has finished second, fourth and fourth again in the last three renewals of the two-and-a-half mile feature. However, he was largely disappointing in the second half of last season, most recently finishing down the field in the Long Distance Cup at Ascot on Champions Day. "He'll have a prep race in Ireland and we'll see how he gets on," said Peacock. "If he runs well, we might as well have another go at the Gold Cup, as he's run well in it before and I don't think there's much else for him. "I suppose we could go for the Queen Alexandra, but we'll see."
