Progressive Amiata edges tight finish Amiata just prevailed in a driving finish to the sprint handicap at Navan this afternoon. Gotta Catch’em All took them along in the ‘90’ contest, over just shy of six furlongs but gave way inside the final furlong as Amiata and By The Lake came through to fight it out. The runner-up made the Ger Lyons-trained gelding pulled out all the stops late on as the 4/1 shot secured a head victory under Colin Keane. Amiata was recording his third win of the year and his fourth overall. Ger Lyons said: "He parks when he gets to the front. "He’s a fine horse and the last day left him right. "He will go to the Champions Weekend (Bold Lad Handicap) now because it is the obvious race, but he's not good enough at three for that sort of competition. “We were always training him to be that sort of horse for his owner at four and five. "You can see him physically growing. He's not ready for the 'big-time' yet. He'd have to (be ready) at four with a rating like that. "You don't have to over-face him this year and these types of races will suit him. "If he didn't go to Champions Weekend, there's a 100 (grade) race back here and he would probably go there.
