Prospectorus and Luke Dempsey prevailed in a driving finish to the extended mile and a quarter handicap at Dundalk.

With the first three separated by two necks and just half a length back to the fourth horse, the handicapper can be pleased with his work.

Luke's trainer father Philip Dempsey said: That’s a brilliant result here after Luke’s fall last time. He’s a good horse, but has had plenty of problems with his legs.

“He’s a hard horse to keep right and he’s had gaps between his races. That’s Luke’s first winner for me. He was beaten a short head on him in February.

“We might go jumping in the summer and mix it, but hopefully there’s another handicap in him.”

The winner was returned at 14/1. He raced prominently and stayed on well to win. Raydari was second at 9/2 while Long Journey Home took third at 13/2.
