Pugin was another to follow up a couple of solid placed efforts by getting his head in front at Gowran Park today.

Shane Crosse was soon to the fore on the Dutch Art gelding and he stuck on gamely down the straight.

The Joseph O'Brien-trained gelding asserted inside the final furlong to record a two-and-a-quarter length success over Charlie Bassett

Pugin, sent off 15/8 joint favourite, had been runner-up on twice this month and could now have a future over jumps.

Assistant Brendan Powell said afterwards:- “He got his head in front, God bless him!

“People might think it was because he came back in trip but it's not really, as I think he'll stay all day.

“He will be a lovely jumper. Joseph has schooled a load of the three-year-olds now and he does jump.

“He might as well go and win a couple on the Flat and then go jumping with him. He's got a bit of toe, he's not slow. The second horse was rated 82 there.

“Obviously with Gigginstown his future will be jumping and he could make up into a nice jumper. He has plenty of size and scope.”
