Punch out to improve Sandown record

Persian Punch will bid to land the Bonusprint Stakes (Registered As The Henry II Stakes) at Sandown Park tomorrow for the fourth time in five years.

Winner of the extended two-mile test in 1997, 1998 and 2000, David Elsworth`s giant front-runner will be ridden by Kieren Fallon as Richard Hughes, who has partnered Persian Punch in his last three starts has been claimed to ride Chester Cup winner Rainbow High for owner Khalid Abdullah.

Last year`s runner-up Churlish Charm, Royal Rebel, successful in the 2000 Goodwood Cup, and Sagaro Stakes victor Solo Mio are other interesting contenders in an 11-runner line-up.

Superstar Leo, runner-up in the Prix de l`Abbaye at Longchamp last October as a two-year-old, reappears in the Group Two Temple Stakes over five furlongs.

William Haggas`s filly is drawn six in a 12-strong field with likely favourite Nuclear Debate racing from stall 10.

John Hammond`s six-year-old, who won the King`s Stand Stakes and Nunthorpe Stakes over the minimum trip last season, will be ridden by Japanese ace Yutake Take in tomorrow`s race.

Palace House Stakes second Cassandra Go will bid to go one better in the Temple Stakes for Newmarket trainer Geoff Wragg.
