Johnny Murtagh feels the Coolmore Fusaichi Pegasus Matron Stakes at Leopardstown on September 13 will suit Purr Along.

The filly won the Lanwades Stud Stakes on her first run for the former champion jockey and went close in the Duke of Cambridge Stakes at Royal Ascot when third to Integral.

She holds an entry in the Qipco Falmouth Stakes at Newmarket next month, but Murtagh is lukewarm on that target at the moment.

"Purr Along ran a blinder and she's come out of it fine," he said.

"She's in the Falmouth and I've not ruled that out yet, but I'd love to run her in the Matron. I think that race would really suit her so we might just wait and go for that."

Murtagh's other runner at Ascot, Irish St Leger winner Royal Diamond, did not fare quite so well and only beat one home in the Gold Cup.

"Royal Diamond was a bit stiff after the Gold Cup, I think the ground was as fast as he would like now that he's a bit older and maybe one-mile-six is as far as he wants to go, that's his ideal trip," said Murtagh.
