Purview decision still to be made Trainer Dermot Weld updated plans for three prospective runners for the upcoming Irish Champions Festival. Stable star Purview holds entries in both the featured Royal Bahrain Irish Champion Stakes (Group 1) and the World Pool Bet With The Tote Kilternan Stakes (Group 3) on Saturday at Leopardstown. The four-year-old colt has been impressive in his two Curragh successes this year, and this is a stepping stone, with the Breeders' Cup Turf reportedly his main objective this season. Weld commented, "Purview is in great form and it genuinely hasn't been decided as yet which race he will run in. We'll wait until declaration time (Thursday morning) to make our decision. "He's had a good year, has won impressively both times and I'm very happy with the horse in every way. He just wants good ground and which ever race he runs in, please God he'll run very well. Training on the Curragh, the 78-year-old hopes his star juvenile can come to the fore in the National Stakes at his home track. The Moyglare Stud-owned colt won over this course and distance on his only start, and so he remains unexposed in a very competitive race. "Porto Vecchio is all set for the National Stakes, he is a grand colt and a good-actioned horse. He will be very effective on a fast surface so wouldn't want too much rain. Hazdann is another older colt who has bounced back to form in his most recent start, but according to Weld, the weather has a major impact on whether he takes his chance. "If we keep getting rain, Hazdann will run and I was delighted with him in Roscommon. He is a good horse and while he has had setbacks, is back to himself now although must have a cut in the ground. "My two-year-old (Porto Vecchio) needs real fast ground but Hazdann needs yielding or close to soft. I have a small but select team this year." Additional reporting by Thomas Weekes.
