Quay conquers to give Harrington and Foley doubles Trainer Jessica Harrington and stable jockey Shane Foley combined to land Leopardstown’s opening two races today, completing the feat with one of the year’s easiest winners, Cromac Quay (1/2f), in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Maiden. Earlier successful on all-the-way winner Pisiffik Ginger, Foley held Cromac Quay in second-place for much of today’s race and having improved to lead a furlong-and-a-half out, scored pulling-up in the final furlong to beat 72-rated runner-up Slaney View by 9.5 lengths. Harrington, who withdrew her two later runners Fortuity and Vega’s Muse due to testing going, reported “Cromac Quay never ran last year, as we gave her the time and she bumped into two quite good fillies, I think, on her first two runs. “The last day, when she got beaten by Jim Bolger’s filly (Sparan Nua), she pulled off a shoe so there was an excuse as to why she kept going up and down in the last furlong. Today she showed she had the acceleration and it's nice to have one like her. She did that well. “She's in the Brownstown Stakes (Listed) here, so she'll probably go there next and I also put her in the Group 2 at the Curragh on Oaks day.” Quotes from John O’Riordan
