Queen rules in Listed contest

Homecoming Queen could have booked a trip to the Breeders Cup after an impressive victory in the Lanwades & Staffordstown Studs Stakes at the Curragh.

Joseph O'Brien made all the running aboard the daughter of Holy Roman Emperor in the Listed contest and she never looked in danger.

The 5/2 shot kicked clear with under two furlongs to run and stayed on strongly in the closing stages to post a four-and-a-quarter length success over Absolute Crackers

The winner had only opened her account at the eighth time of asking when taking a Fairyhouse nursery but showed that win had done her the world of good when second in Group Three company here last time behind the smart Coral Wave.

"She always worked like a very good filly but took a while to win and she ended up at Fairyhouse off a mark of 72," said O'Brien.

"Then she had a great run here. Maybe I was running her over too short. She's a good mover and has a big heart. She's a very well-bred filly.

"Joseph said to go to America (Breeders Cup) for the fillies race. We'll see. Obviously she's a filly with a lot of ability."

O'Brien also had news of his team for next Saturday's Champion Stakes day at Ascot.

"So You Think, Fame And Glory and Await The Dawn are all possibles but the boys will decide in the middle of the week if they go.

"Await The Dawn is coming along. He nearly didn't live 48 hours after York. He has options but it depends on where the big horse goes (So You Think).

"Wonder Of Wonders won't run as she has been retired."
