Storm Heart found plenty on the run-in to land the spoils in the Red Mills Trial Hurdle at Gowran Park this afternoon.

The Willie Mullins-trained gelding went to post 11/10 favourite for the Grade 3 prize and settled behind the leaders for most of the two mile trip. Workahead took them along and was pressed over the second last by both Farren Glory and the eventual winner.

The front-runner proved a tough nut to crack but was joined by Storm Heart over the final flight and gave way on the run-in as the Gigginstown gelding asserted late on for a length-and-a-half win.

It was a second success of the season for Storm Heart and rider Paul Townend said afterwards:-

"It was a tough performance and I didn't know how well I was going for much of the race to be honest.

“When I got him out and set about him, he stuck it out really well and he got a good jump at the last when he needed it.

"He is now starting to fulfil what I thought he might do as a novice and it is nice for him to get his head in front. He seems versatile ground-wise and he handles that testing ground."
