There has been 5mm of overnight rain at Aintree which means the going on the Grand National and hurdles course is now Soft, Good to Soft in places.

The showers stopped at around 8am this morning but the ground has affected all courses, with the Mildmay track now Good to Soft, Soft in places.

The prospect of a soft ground National is now a realistic possibility, with more showers forecast on Friday and Saturday.

The National course will be used today in the Foxhunters and tomorrow in the Topham Chase.
