Jockey Joey Sheridan completed an opening race double when partnering the Paul Flynn trained Rappell to win the Ei Electronics Handicap at Limerick.

Just touched off at Fairyhouse on Wednesday, the Paddy McGuire owned gelding was sent off 6/4f to go one better.

Tracking the leaders from the outset, Sheridan moved closer over a furlong from the finish. Closing on leader El Fontenaro over 200 yards out, the five-year-old led close home for a three-quarter-length win.

Winning rider Joey Sheridan said: "The report said that he put his head in the air the last day but I think that's just his head carriage. I think he might have just bumped into a well handicapped horse of Johnny's.

"I'd say it was just a good run the other day. He was just unlucky to be pipped. Paul said that he actually came out of the race nearly better than he went into it the last day. It's nice to get a winner for Paul. We always do a couple of times a year."
