Rayvin not for catching in Kingwell Rayvin Black's trademark toughness saw him poach another big prize when he held off all challengers to win the Bathwick Tyres Kingwell Hurdle. The 100/30 second-favourite was being pushed along from halfway in the Grade Two two-mile contest but kept responding to the urgings of rider Tom Garner and favourite Irving, seemingly unsuited by the testing conditions, was beaten by the home turn. As Pain Au Chocolat was turned away by Rayvin Black it fell to the staying-on Melodic Rendezvous to throw down the final challenge from the final flight, but Rayvin Black was not to be denied and and kept on galloping to score by five lengths.
