Ger O'Leary's Real Force is set to return from an injury lay-off in the Paddy Power Irish Lincolnshire on the opening day of the Irish Flat season.

The five-year-old gelding has been off-track since being eased in Listed company at Cork in April last year.

Assistant trainer trainer Adrian Joyce said: We had a really exciting time with him - he won races for us in Tipperary and Naas. We took him to France and he was second in a Listed race in Saint-Cloud (in October 2020) and was unlucky not to win it. A Group One performer in the race beat us on the day. If he came wide, he probably would have won.

"He is the best horse we have and is entered in the Lincoln (on Saturday 26th March), with a rating of 100, on the first day of the season. It will be a tough ask in a handicap but he will be the class horse in the race. He is on target for that. He is the horse that could get us black-type this year.

"Last year we had to stop with him, we only got one run with him. He got an injury in Cork on his first run of the season and that put him out for the full season. We have given him plenty of time. We would be surprised if we don't pick up a Listed or Group 3 with him this year. He's a very talented horse."

Real Force has landed three of his 10 races to date.
