Real Steel is likely to have two options when he bids for Grade One glory at Leopardstown's Christmas meeting following his fine effort in defeat at Fairyhouse.

Trainer Mouse Morris will give the six-year-old entries in both the Racing Post Novice Chase over two miles and one furlong and the three-mile Topaz Novice Chase.

It was over two and a half miles on Sunday that Real Steel, carrying the colours of Gigginstown House Stud, caught the eye. Although only third behind Valseur Lido, who is in the same ownership, Real Steel lost many lengths jumping to the left.

It was a trait Morris was not aware of as he has only had Real Steel a few weeks, the horse having previously been trained by Philip Fenton.

"He's grand this morning, not a bother on him," said Morris.

"I don't really know why he jumped out to the left. I haven't had him that long, so that was the first I knew about it.

"He ran a blinder and is probably the horse you'd take out of the race.

"He'll probably go to Leopardstown over Christmas. It will be one extreme to the other. There's a two miler and a three miler. I couldn't say at this stage which one he'd be going for, but he'll go for one of them."
