Red Letter wins Snow Fairy Stakes Coronation Stakes-winner Gary Carroll stepped in for the spare ride on Red Letter (6/5f) in the Curragh’s Group 3 Snow Fairy Fillies Stakes today, as the pair scored for owner/breeders Juddmonte Farms and trainer Ger Lyons. With Juddmonte’s retained rider Colin Keane riding for the team in Sandown, Carroll was partnering Red Letter for the second time, and having held her up in rear-division, improved her to lead inside the final furlong to score by 1.5 lengths from Sand Gazelle . Lyons stated “that was lovely and as I said to Barry (Mahon, Juddmonte’s racing manager) she’s crying out for that trip but is probably only ready for it now. You can see it in her physically, she’s only filling her frame. “We’ve just had to be so patient with her and we have a lovely horse to look forward to next year. Hopefully she’ll fill all of her potential in the next 12 months and is a filly to look forward to. “We’re looking forward to Champions Weekend, which is very important to us, and we’ll have a look at the Blandford. The ground is very important as she needs ease. “Obviously the family have their say with her but we’ve been training her with all of this in mind, with both the back-end of the season and next year. I think she can get 1m4f no problem.” Quotes from Gary Carson
