Red Striker made a winning move when he kicked on off the home bend in the Kennedy's Bar Handicap Hurdle at Sligo.

He closed before the second last and readily hit the front approaching the home bend.

The seven-year-old gelding got first run on his rivals and was kept up his work as the closers arrived on the run-in.

The 9/2 chance took the honours by a length and a half for trainer Andrew McNamara from Rossies Tara (2/1f). Miss Louise was in there pitching half a length down in third at 10/1.

Jockey Dillon Maxwell said: "He travelled well and really stuck his neck out for me on the run-in. He found a bit more when Rossies Tara came to me.

"The ground was a little bit softer than he'd like, but he handled it well. We always thought he had a race in him."
