Requinto in style at Cork

Requinto vindicated the immense promise of his Leopardstown debut effort 13 days ago when easily justifying odds of 1/2 (from 4/6) in the Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Race, the opener of the day at Cork.

A son of Dansili out of the Royal Ascot and Group 1 winning two-year-old, Damson, Wayne Lordan made all in the Michael Tabor silks on Requinto, the juvenile stretching clear in the final furlong to beat Ishvana by three and a half lengths. Joseph O'Brien was unable to draw his claim on that one, putting up 3Ibs overweight.

Winning trainer David Wachman said: "He did that easy. He'll have to step-up to a higher grade now. The Marble Hill would be an option for him - we'll see how he is."

When quizzed as to whether it would it be on to Royal Ascot then, Wachman remarked: "I wish it was that easy."
