Return trip to Deauville on the cards for The Lion In Winter The Lion In Winter is reported in good form following his close third behind Woodshauna in the Group 1 Prix Jean Prat at Deauville and will head back to the same venue next month for the Prix Jacques Le Marois. The Aidan O’Brien-trained colt headed classic markets over the winter but tasted defeat for the first time when reappearing in the Dante at York before disappointing the Derby at Epsom. However, the highly regarded son of Sea The Stars showed much improved form earlier this month when narrowly beaten into third in the Prix Jean Prat over seven furlongs. A step up to a mile is now the plan as stable representative Chris Armstrong outlined: "It was lovely to get him back on track after all the promise he showed last year. "He has come out of the race (at Deauville) very well, and everyone is happy with him at home. "He is going to go to the Jacques Le Marois next in Deauville. Obviously, it is going to be a fascinating race during the summer. “In fairness, the horse adapted coming right back from a mile and a half to seven (furlongs) last week pretty quickly. "Back up to a mile in the Jacques Le Marois should suit him." Additional reporting by Michael Graham
