Reve wins the Rendlesham Reve De Sivola produced a typically gritty performance to win the Betfred 'Home Of Goals Galore' Hurdle at Haydock Park. Unplaced when sent over fences at the Merseyside venue last time out, he looked much more at home back over the smaller obstacles. The Nick Williams-trained veteran adopted his traditional position at the head of affairs under Richard Johnson in the Grade Two contest better known as the Rendlesham Hurdle. The pair set a sensible gallop in attritional conditions and the six strong field were still tightly grouped at the top of the straight but they began to fall away one by one. Reve De Sivola, who was conceding 8lbs to his rivals, had pulled several lengths clear jumping the last but his stride began to shorten in the run to the line and favourite One Track Mind began to make notable inroads into his advantage. The line came in time for the 11-year-old who was returned at 7/2 as he recorded a tenth career success. Silsol claimed third with At Fishers Cross disappointing in fourth. Johnson said: "He's very similar to Anzum (Stayers' Hurdle winner), both really good stayers, you know the more you ask the more you'll get. "He finds as much off the bridle as he does before. "To look at you'd think he was a chaser, but for some reason he's a much better hurdler." Unfortunately Deputy Dan collapsed and died after his effort in fifth place.
