Revenge Will Be Sweet For Invasor

Connections of Invasor have admitted there is an element of revenge to the Dubai World Cup rematch with Discreet Cat after the four-year-old inflicted the American star's only career defeat to date in the UAE Derby last year.

The Kiaran McLaughlin-trained Breeders' Cup Classic winner will race from stall seven in the 6million showdown on Saturday night, with his big rival drawn in box one.

On the subject of revenge, McLaughlin said: 'Yeah, for sure. He's a different horse and hopefully we can overcome the horse that beat him.

'I think he's a better horse this year, I have a lot of respect for Discreet Cat, he's a great horse and undefeated, but we also gave him nine pounds last year and hopefully we can turn that result around.'

The rivalry has dominated the run-up to the race but McLaughlin feels that is how it should be.

'Premium Tap deserves to be third choice, he's a very nice horse, but these two are superstar horses and they don't come along very often by anybody's reckoning.' he said.

McLaughlin also felt the draw would have less of an impact this year because of the size of the field.

'It wasn't a big concern (the draw) but the interesting thing was the one hole, neither one of us wanted it but Discreet Cat got it, which is unfortunate, but it shouldn't matter too much,' he said.

'For them in the one hole there'll be a little more traffic, but we're out in the clear so it worked out perfectly for us.'
