Bishop’s Lane got his revenge on Roscommon running with Western Promise when beating him by a length and a half in the beginners’ chase at Tramore this evening.

The pair had contested an extended three mile chase at Roscommon on August 7 when Western Promise won and Bishop’s Lane came in fourth, beaten twenty eight lengths.

Different tactics worked as trainer Ted Walsh said: “We rode him more forcefully at Roscommon and we decided to take our time with him today and it has paid off.”

Bishop’s Lane and Western Promise were 4/1 co-favourites together with Bruff who finished fourth behind 6/1 Presswell Lad.

The winner was ridden by three pound claimer Rob Jones and it was his first winner at this track.

Western Promise wasn’t able to dictate today’s race like he did at Roscommon as Stylos Ace raced from the front. However, Shane Ryder’s horse stayed on well from the last to take second.
