Reverend Hubert goes two better in this year's Denny Hurdle Reverend Hubert (9/4f) fended off Samui (3/1) to land the Denny Hurdle over three miles in Down Royal. Philip Byrnes raced his mount towards the rear and the pair went third three out. They made headway to lead after the next and, although pressed by Samui in the closing stages, saw it out by three-quarters of a length for Charles Byrnes and owner James M Flaherty. Jockey Byrnes said: "Small fields seem to help him and good ground is probably his thing. "He did it well today, I probably sent him on plenty early and he kept going well to the line. "He fought well today, the cheekpieces probably helped. "Delighted to get another win with him. "Hopefully he improved a bit (since finishing third in this race last year). He had a couple of good runs on the Flat and he will probably go back to the Flat for the second part of the season. He might go for one of those staying handicaps down the line. "He has plenty of options. He is a good, fun, dual-purpose horse and they are the ones you want."
